Activities
There is a wide range of activities available within the locality to keep everyone occupied whether you hanker for the strenuous type or the more sedate sort of pastime. Below are listed just a few types that come to mind with a brief overview for some but don’t be afraid to ask us about the possibility of any other activities that you cannot find here.
The majestic Chateau of the Loire – there are just so many in this locality, both large and small, but local ones are at Loches and Azay-le-Ferron, Bridore, Grand Pressigny, Argy, Bouges, Valencay, Clion-sur-Indre, then there are others at Villandry, Saumur, Chambord, Usse, Amboise, Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau, Chaumont all within approx 1 hour
The Brenne Parc Naturel Regional also known as the “Land of a Thousand Lakes” – with so many lakes available, it is only possible to highlight a few here, whether it be for a visit by car or bike, but really worth seeing are ‘La Bellebouche’ with its man made-beach, canoes, pedalos, and a range of other activities for children. Then there is ‘La Gabriere’ in a splendid setting with 2 quality restaurants to break up your journeys or visit the Maison du Parc with visitor & information centre having ‘Etang de la Mer Rouge’ nearby. The whole area is renowned for being a bird-watcher’s paradise, and famous for fishing and canoeing. Arrangements can be made for bike hire or to have your own bikes transported down to the lakes for you to visit this wonderful area at your leisure and then be picked-up & returned to Le Cormier later in the day.
Futuroscope (76km) – quite simply a tremendous day out for all the family, with a spectacular range of rides, incredible buildings, geographical & historical cinematic shows, gardens, restaurants and so much more….a real day out and full of fun for all ages, finished off by the evening/night-time spectacular.
Golf – local 18 hole courses are at Villedieu & La Roche Posay (20kms) and then a 9 hole course at Verneuil (12kms)
Vineyards & Wine Tasting – local ones open to the public are in Bossay-sur-Claise (12kms) or travel further north to visit the famous Vouvray and so many others along the Loire
Local Markets – there are just so many to see but Loches is always worth a visit on Saturday, Wednesday & Thursday. The markets become a must for an excellent range of goods manufactured or grown in the area including local wines, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meats and fish.
Zoos – Le Haute Touche at Azay Le Ferron (a safari type specialist zoo only 6kms away) famous for its specialisation of protecting some of the endangered species or there is Beauval Zoo at St Aignan, a tremendous day out for all the family.
Go-Karting – Outdoor Karting in Chatillon or indoor Karting at Joue les Tours. The course at Chatillon (13kms) is superb and offers some tremendous thrills for those of us with aggressive driving habits.
Cycling & walking - the lay of the land here makes it simply superb for those of you that wish to explore the area by bike or walking, with so many communal paths and roads that take you off the beaten-track. Bikes are available for hire
